We Are UGI: Inspiring Future STEM Professionals
03 Nov 2023
November 8 is National STEM Day! As an energy provider, we rely on professionals with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and technical skills to deliver safe and reliable energy to our customers.
It is important to UGI to support organizations that are inspiring the next generation of STEM professionals. UGI employees are actively involved with Science Explorers and their Science Projects Are Really Kids’ Stuff (S.P.A.R.K.S.) Foundation, which provides students with the opportunity to experience science in a fun, hands-on setting. Employees go to schools within our service territory to assist students as they conduct experiments ranging from mixing two liquids to make a solid, to making glowing slime, to launching a rocket. When UGI employees volunteer for a S.P.A.R.K.S. event, they are instrumental in fostering an interest in science to children.
“It is so fun to watch the students’ eyes light up, to hear the gasps and to see them smiling and laughing at what they are creating. It’s a great learning experience not only for the classroom but also for the adults volunteering. I’m grateful to UGI for the experience and the opportunity to volunteer,” said UGI employee volunteer Sherry Baldwin.
UGI is proud to support the S.P.A.R.K.S. Foundation’s mission of exciting and motivating students towards becoming life-long science learners.
